Dr. Dominique R. Ansell MSc, MD, CCFP-EM
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Dominique Ansell is the Chief Medical Officer at TruEffect Inc. She is a practicing family physician with added competence in emergency medicine under the certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Her clinical duties primarily include working in the Emergency Department at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario and as a Trauma Team Leader. Dominique is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Sciences Division at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, a Clinical Investigator at the Health Sciences North Research Institute, and is currently in her second term as the Vice-President of the Medical Staff Association (~400 physicians) at Health Sciences North. Her education includes completion of an Honours BSc Biology and MSc Biology at Laurentian University, Undergraduate Medical Education and Family Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa, and a Family Medicine-Emergency Medicine Residency at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
Dominique is actively involved in numerous research projects. Examples of her ongoing research include: 1) a pilot project to build an Emergency Department Data Warehouse using electronic health information to improve patient care and health outcomes and 2) two recently published scientific articles on the advanced treatment Parkinson’s disease (PD) in Ontario; one study examined disparities in the use of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of PD, while the other examined long-term survival and health care use following receipt of deep brain stimulation for PD. Furthermore, Dominique has contributed to a national collaboration focussed on developing a Canadian clinical practice guideline to diagnose acute aortic syndrome, which was recently published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
Dominique is well-versed in systematic review methodology. Most recently, she primary authored a systematic review that identified and assessed interventions to reduce wait times for primary care appointments, which has garnered considerable attention.
